About
Sarah is a nationally recognized harpist. She was most recently awarded a winner for the Musical Merit Foundation competition of the Greater San Diego Area and the Lyon & Healy Awards national competition at the 2011 American Harp Society Summer Institute. She was asked to perform at the prestigious Lyon & Healy Hall in Chicago during the 2011-2012 concert series as a part of this award. Sarah was also awarded a full tuition scholarship during her stay in Los Angeles to earn a Master of Music degree in Harp Performance at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. Prior to that, she was awarded a Paul C. Memorial scholarship to obtain a Bachelor of Music degree in Harp Performance from the San Diego State University School of Music & Dance.
Sarah made her debut as a soloist on an orchestra tour to Australia and New Zealand where she performed Introduction et Allegro for Solo Harp by Ravel. She has also soloed with the SDSU Symphony. In addition, Sarah was recently selected as a guest conductor at a San Diego Symphony pops concert. Sarah is currently a sub for the San Diego Symphony and Orchestra Nova.
In addition to performing, Sarah is the Vice President of the San Diego Harp Society. She has studied the piano with Cherilyn Charfauros and the organ with Dr. Ladd Thomas, Dr. Carol Williams, and Lea Schmidt-Rogers. Her main harp instructors have been Elena Mashkovtseva and JoAnn Turovsky.
